GET YOUR FACE OUT OF YOUR PHONE!
In recent weeks, I have preached about the hold that our cell phones, video games and social networking sites have on our teens today. I have never preached on a subject where I get more rebellious looks then I do on this subject. One college girl even joked about it on her site making fun of the preaching! Nothing should ever take your focus off God. I call the over use of phones and social networking sites “technological idolatry”. Here are some ways that you can keep your phone and these other things from controlling you. 1. Only use your computer in an open place where your parents know what you are doing online. 2. Only friend request other people that share your faith and convictions. 3. Limit your use of photos online. 4. Let it be known on your phone, profiles etc. that you are a Christian that loves your Lord. 5. Turn your phone off when you are at church or with your family. 6. Make yourself accountable to a godly person. 7. Remember that “It is not about you!” Stop thinking that you are so important that someone is always trying to contact you. 8. If you have time to text or to go online, then you have time to walk with God.
